Choir Holds Christmas Concert at a Church

East Center Stage’s Christmas Concert was held at First United Methodist Church last Friday due to the ongoing construction of the auditorium. The change in concert location, however, is not the only aspect of Center Stage that is new.

After the previous Choir Director moved away last year, the group of singers welcomed a new Director for the 2019-2020 school year: Mr. Budd. After this change, senior Bethany Shelton can notice an immense difference in the vocal presence of the group.

“Mr. Budd has really focused this year on trying to work with us on our vowels, just making sure that we sound like a mature choir,” Shelton said. “Vowel shapes alone have allowed us to improve like 10 times [better] and we just sound like a completely different choir than we did last year.”

If you were unable to attend Center Stage’s festive concert last Friday, there are still Christmas related performances to look forward to. All East Choirs will be giving a Christmas Concert on Dec. 13 at First United Methodist Church. Additionally, the East Bands will be performing their Christmas Concert at North High School on Dec. 17. Both concerts will start at 7 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.
