Meet the Staff: Corbin Morris

Corbin Morris, a junior at East, loves his job. He works at the KidsCommons, in downtown Columbus on Washington Street, and enjoys every minute.

“I really enjoy it,” Morris said. “I work with a lot of my friends. In one day I’d say there are four or five people on the floor staff.”

Morris’s tasks, along with the four other employees at KidsCommons, include cleaning up toys at the end of the day, helping kids use the rockwall and cleaning out the bubble room once a month. Morris also mentioned that he took a break from working last school year.

“I came back and nothing had changed,” Morris said. “Most of the time they need people during the daytime so I didn’t work during the school year.”

When Morris returned to work this summer, he worked a lot of birthday parties.

“We have a little party room. I have to set up birthday parties. People have to call in before and register, and it is not that expensive actually,” Morris said.

Through working at KidsCommons, Morris has gotten to think about what future career he wants to pursue. KidsCommons is his first job, but he has had some confusion about what he wants to do next.

“I think it’s a good job for me at this stage in my life, because I can relate and get skills from interacting with kids. But I don’t know if I want to work and clean up the kid’s toys in the future,” Morris said.

Morris appreciates his opportunities to work with kids, and loves working at the KidsCommons. He hopes that working there for a summer longer will earn him some more money since he doesn’t work too much during the school year.

“I’m looking forward to next summer when I get to have fun at KidsCommons again,” Morris said.
