Taylor Swift has once again pulled a new album out of nowhere by announcing its release hours before. Five months after the surprise-release of Folklore came Evermore on Dec. 11. Evermore features an alternative and chamber rock sound mixed with Folklore’s similar indie and folk type. The appearances of artists such as Bon Iver, HAIM and The National lead to unique outcomes within the album’s lyrics and beat.

The lead single, Willow, is a love song. Taylor Swift illustrates a story of casting a love spell to make someone fall in love. The Rolling Stone labeled Willow as one of 2020’s best pop collaborations. Willow was released along with a music video, featuring Taylor Swift trapped inside a glass box, unable to get to her love interest.

Taylor Swift wrote the album during the isolation of quarantine. Swift started telling romantic and bittersweet stories from her time as a songwriter in the early-2000s. In fact, the release of Evermore features Swift’s first country song she’s written over many albums. Her songs range from three minutes, one second, to five minutes, 15 seconds.

Evermore also includes Champagne problems, Gold rush, ‘Tis the damn season, No body, no crime and the namesake, Evermore. The 15 song album is available on both Apple Music and Spotify.
