The East Olympians fell to crosstown rival, Columbus North, 30-13 on Friday. North was led by strong performances from Mitchell Burton and Jaylen Flemming, while Jamon Hogan and Cam Wilson both had solid games for the Olympians.

At the half the Bulldogs led 9-7. The Olympians had just one touchdown from wide receiver Cam Wilson as the turnovers came back to haunt them.

The Bulldogs scored on a run from Mitchell Burton, followed by a late field goal by Mark Salle-Tabor.

After going down with an apparent head injury, quarterback Josh Major was unable to return to play and Caleb Voelker took over at quarterback for the remainder of the game.

The Bulldogs pulled away late in the second half thanks to a pair of touchdown catches by Jaylen Flemming and JD Harris, as well as another touchdown run by Mitchell Burton.

The Olympians fought back in the third quarter with a touchdown from Hogan, but it just wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs went on to kneel to end the game.

When asked about the crowd impact on the field, junior Mark Scuitto said, “Early in the game it was a huge factor, but as the game went on we made mental mistakes that the crowd couldn’t help us fix.”

The Olympians now turn their attention to next week as they open up conference play against the Seymour Owls.
