Not many of us were around eight years ago when East underwent a massive renovation that lasted until 2011. However, most of us will be around next year, where small renovations could take place. A variety of changes could happen, most being subtle, while some will have a little bit more of an impact. Renovations would happen at multiple elementary schools and at both high schools.

A variety of renovations would be done around the school. Changes could be made in the thermal system on third floor along with other changes inside, like improving privacy in bathrooms and locker rooms. New piping could be added and emergency power circuits would be upgraded. Bleachers in the gym could be replaced and upgraded guard railings would be added. At the football field, changes would be made to the away bleachers and the track would be resurfaced. All these things would happen in the next year or two.

So how much would these renovations cost? The estimated cost of the renovations would be around 1.5 million. The funding is coming from leftover money from the previous reconstruction. The previous renovation ended up being under budget, leaving money to receive a rebate.

“The money specifically comes from a program called Build America,” assistant principal, Charles Edwards, said about where the money is coming from, “These are bond rebates from the high school projects we did back when we did our other renovations.”

Edwards compared the renovations to taking care of an old car, maintaining it and keeping it up to standards. Luckily, these renovations wouldn’t last four years. In the near future, slight changes could be coming to the school, but all for the better.
