Super Bowl Review

The Super Bowl was played last Sunday, February 3rd, featuring the defending champions: New England Patriots, against the Philadelphia Eagles. The two teams battled back and forth the whole way.

With the game on the line with under two minutes to play, Tom Brady stepped onto the field to do what he has done many times before; lead his team on a game-winning drive. As he took his three step drop to deliver a pass downfield, he was hit while cocking back his arm and fumbled the ball: The Eagles recovered the ball.

After stopping the Eagles around midfield, the patriots would get the ball back with 26 seconds left. One more chance for Tom Brady. The Eagles stellar defense held the Patriots at midfield for a last second heave to the endzone, where a pile of Eagles and Patriots players stood fighting for the ball until it fell to the turf.

The game was thrilling until the very end, but the Eagles pulled out the 41-33 victory. Nick Foles, backup quarterback for the Eagles was named MVP of the game for his impressive performance.

Foles finished 28/43 passing with 373 yards, one interception, and three touchdowns. Many people doubted Foles heading into the playoffs, after all he was the backup to Carson Wentz, the Eagle’s franchise quarterback, but he turned those doubts into motivation, propelling his team through three post season wins and a Super Bowl victory.

The eagles became the first one-seed in postseason history to win every game as the “Underdog”, and became the first one-seed to be projected to lose every game they played.
