Across Columbus, Valentine’s Day looks different for everyone, from first dates to self-care nights with friends. Throughout the hundreds of students in East High School, some haveae day filled while others don’t care to acknowledge the day. Senior, Logan Darnell, has a strong view on Valentines day as well as contingencies on whether or not he will celebrate Valentine’sDayy this year.
“It depends on whether I find a valentine.” Darnell said, “I think that it is just another cash grab, a way to get money from couples.”
For some other students, like senior Meg, Valentine’s Day is a day to look forward to, filled with fun planned surprises.
“This is the first Valentine’s Day I’m actually celebrating,” Going said. “My boyfriend is surprising me and taking me to a nice seafood restaurant.”
Ultimately, East holds a wide range of perspectives from students, whether they cherish the holiday or don’t acknowledge the day differently than any other. Valentine’s Day continues to spark different emotions and traditions across the school.
