Tonight the Columbus East boys basketball team will face off in their first sectional game of the 2015-2016 basketball season against Columbus North High School. this season East beat North by a score of 53-42. The Olympians hope to be able to bounce back from their previous loss against Floyd Central and put down the Bulldogs for this season.

Basketball is a game of strategy, and East definitely came with a very effective strategy last time by suffocating North’s ball handlers with tight defense. Only two players for the Bulldogs scored over 10 points and the team as a whole scored less than 45 points, which they have only done four times this season.

For East seniors this will be the last go round and the last shot that they will have to play against North. As one would assume, they are chomping at the bit to get back out on the floor and stick it to North one last time.

“[The game] will mean a lot more because it’s North and they’re our rival. It really should be a lot of fun,” said senior Zach Sanders.

Tipoff tonight is at 7:30 at East Central High School.
