Top 10 Shows
Ethan Glaid, Writer
As many of my family and friends can tell you, I love to watch TV. I watch a very wide range of TV shows from the latest cop show or the great comedy that’s been on the air for over 11 years I like it all. But when you watch as much TV that I have you get a good understanding of what makes a good show great. Listed below are my top 10 TV shows aired in the past 20 years.
#10- The Big Bang Theory
In The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) go through their nerdy lives in Pasadena, California facing conflicts such as social interactions, talking to women and the latest Halo game. Their witty banter and nerdy habits make it a perfect Thursday night show.
#9- Brooklyn Nine-Nine
A group of detectives in New York City, who have never followed the rules too closely, solve crimes throughout the city in a very comical manner. With season five scheduled to come out this fall, there are plenty more adventures to come.
#8- Psych
Psychic detective Shawn Spencer (James Roday) and his partner Burton Guster (Dulé Hill) solve crimes “psychically” [with his mind] throughout the city of Santa Barbara. With the lead detectives questioning their every move, there is no telling what trouble Shawn and Gus get themselves into. The show’s balance of humor and crime make it the perfect addition to the list. ...
#7- Shooter
Shooter is a great show for all those interested in an action packed show. After retiring from the Army, Bob Lee (Ryan Phillippe), the best sniper there ever was, gets a call about an attempted assassination only to find out he is the culprit. As he goes through life on the run he gains some helpful allies, as well as some dangerous enemies.
#6- Full House
The Tanner family is always getting a new addition to their small home in San Francisco, California. When there is a problem they handle it together. Their light humor and heartwarming family talks make it one of the best TV shows.
#5- Designated Survivor
After the capital is destroyed in a terrorist attack with all important political figures inside there is only one man left, Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland). With the help of an FBI agent Kirkman must put the country back together.
#4- Modern Family
Modern Family gives a great perspective on how chaotic a family can be and all the great times they have. Modern Family’s great mix of light drama and comedy it deserves its rightful spot at number four.
#3- The Office
The Office’s mockumentary style creates a whole different level of TV for viewers. Set in Scranton, PA, Michael Scott (Steve Carell) is the manager of a paper supply company known as Dunder Mifflin. His managing style is not always the most formal, but it is the funniest.
#2- Friends
Six friends with six different personalities find themselves facing the challenges of love and life in New York City. With the love and support, and occasional mockery, of one another they can get through anything that life throws their way.
#1- Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones has definitely earned its number one spot. Three families are battling for the iron throne to rule all of Westeros. Each family suffers more losses than victories and each answer just leads to more questions. With the final season projected to view next fall, I would start watching now.
