Success in sports here at Columbus East has recently come from football and wrestling. This year, senior Maggie Gregory will be starting a new trend and diving in the state finals Saturday February 10th.

Gregory’s journey to state was not an easy one. She started off by winning her sectional at Columbus North on Thursday February 1st. Following sectionals was her regional competition where she was projected to get 10th place. She did not let this stop her, knowing that only the top eight spots advance to state.

She went on to place 5th place at regionals, securing her spot in the state finals. Along the way, Gregory also managed to set a school diving record to accompany the swimming relay team that also set a school record.

“Competing in state just feels amazing, the team has been supportive of me as well as the school in general,” Gregory said.
