What has been your favorite part about being an Olympian?

“My favorite part is definitely the sense of community at East even beyond your closest group of friends. I have found the vast majority of people to be exceedingly kind.”

What is your favorite memory from East?

“My favorite memories are definitely from the science lab, especially chemistry since I had the best partner, Maya.”

Is there any teacher or coach that has made an impact on your life?

“I think one teacher who has really made an impact on my life is Mrs. Hambling. I loved taking both of my AP Physics classes so much that I cadet taught for her again this year. She really inspires me to be a strong and confident woman in a science field that is often dominated by men.”

What class would you recommend for other students to take?

“I would recommend taking Genetics with Mr. Chastain! This class was phenomenal all around. The labs were great and the best part is how easily you can see Mr. Chastain’s passion for the subject every day.”

What are your future plans?

“I will be attending North Carolina State University as a first-year engineering student. I intend to major in Biomedical Engineering and obtain a minor in Spanish.”

What are you most looking forward to in your future?

“I am most looking forward to the experience of living in a larger city and getting to meet a whole lot of new people as well as utilize all of the opportunities in the research triangle area.”
