Advice for Getting Ready for a Special Event
My first piece of advice when it comes to getting ready for an important event is to start practicing or getting “ready” a couple of days prior. For instance, if you have an important presentation the night before or if you have an interview, look into the work prior to the interview to help you go into the room with confidence
My second piece of advice would be to get good sleep before any event, whether that be an exam or a party. When the day comes, you want to be aware of what’s happening and make sure you are enjoying it at the same time. Not getting enough sleep for any event can lead to trouble remembering, decreased alertness, and making poor decisions. Which can all lead to something happening on the day of our cousin’s anxiety.
And lastly, during the event, have an emergency kit filled with essentials that you might need just in case. For example, a tide pen, perfume, deodorant, makeup, or even medicine, while you may not need it, a friend might. So having a few things in your bag or in your car can make you not worry as much if something were to happen.
The first piece of advice I have for getting ready is always get ready before you think you need to. Almost every time I am getting ready for an event, I procrastinate because I think I will have time later. However, that makes the getting ready process more stressful and harder to be on time.
The second piece of advice I have is to plan your look a day or two ahead, maybe longer, depending on the event. Going to school dances, celebrating holidays, or attending weddings can require taking weeks or months to find an outfit, whereas other outfits do not necessarily require planning. Once you have an idea of what you want to wear, think about what hairstyle you want to do for the outfit so you can plan your getting-ready time accordingly.
The last piece of advice I have is to make getting ready fun. Playing music, turning on the TV, or listening to a podcast will keep you calm and help you feel much more relaxed. Then, you will be more excited about wherever you are going and feel more confident.
