Scholarships available for East seniors
April 1, 2016
Scholarship deadlines are fast approaching. While the Heritage Fund and Lily scholarship deadlines have already passed and will be announced within the first few weeks of April, there are many opportunities from local and community scholarships still available.
Signing up for the scholarship newsletter is essential in order to stay on top of available scholarships. The newsletter comes out every Wednesday with new scholarships and deadlines. This can be found on the school website under the counseling department tab under the section scholarships and financial aid.
“All of the Bartholomew County School Foundation has announced their scholarships they’re awarding. The deadline for those scholarships is the end of April,” said Mrs. Clark.
There are many scholarships available that involve more than filling out simple information. It is recommended to allow plenty of time to complete applications in order to fill out essays, gather letters of recommendations, and send in transcripts that may be required.
Senior Alex Galle was recently awarded with the Eugene Cato Memorial Scholarship. To be eligible, a recommendation from a school’s athletic director is required.
“I had to write a short essay and send a resume,” said Galle.
For the graduating classes of 2014 and 2015, students had been awarded with over 10 million dollars in scholarships each year.
Be sure to sign up for the scholarship newsletter in order to take advantage of the most opportunities available.
