Thursday, April 21, the Columbus East Olympians boys’ track team faced off against the Columbus North Bulldogs in their varsity track meet. Although it was a hard fought battle for both schools and East put together a valiant effort, Columbus North came away with the win with a score of 92-40. Although the meet as a whole wasn’t a win, some of the boys did shine bright for the Olympians. Rhett Myers scored the most for the team totaling 10 points in his field events and setting a new Columbus East record for discus. Some other results in favor of the Olympians included:

1600m relay: 1. Caleb Pettit, Cam Wilson, TC O’Neal and Steven O’Neal

High Jump: 1. T.C. O’Neal
3. Yarbourgh

Discus: 1.Myers
3. Kruchten

Shot Put: 1.Myers
2. Kruchten
3. Abbot

The girls’ Olympian track team also competed with a great effort, but also came away with a loss for the meet with a score of 74-62. The varsity girls fought hard and were in it until the very end. The girls had more than their fair share of stars when it came to the results column. Junior Kayla Gastineau placed well for the Olympians as well as Junior Cortney Vanliew. These are just a couple of the Olympians who brought their “A” game against the cross town rival.
