Pete Huse is the current Athletic Director for Columbus East High School. This is his first year at the school, and the beginning of many more. Huse was formerly the Athletic Director at Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Indiana before his move to Columbus East. To help cap off his first year at East, CEHS News interviewed Huse to review how his first year went.

Q: Overall, how was your first year at Columbus East?

A: My first year went very well. I really enjoyed the move and experience I’ve gained being here so far.

Q: What were the high points of your first year?

A: I really enjoyed moving here and seeing all of the talent that East has to offer, as well as meeting different coaches and athletes that represent East.

Q: What were the low points of your first year at East?

A: The low point, I think, was not being able to personally connect with some of the athletes here due to the fact that there just isn’t enough time with everything going on.

Q: What have you learned in your first year at East?

A: I want to improve my relationships with the athletes and continue to evolve the relationships I have with the coaches. I have also learned about the high goals that this school has and how they try to continue these high standards.

Q: What do you look forward to in your future years at Columbus East?

A: I hope to continue the tradition that’s already been established and help out with some of the lower programs and improve them. I specifically plan to develop the unified track team, athletic advisory board, and, of course, improving upon myself.
