Mexican restaurants: where should you go for lunch?
March 30, 2017
Unlike many high schools across the country, East is fortunate enough to have an open campus lunch. With this being said, there are many student friendly restaurants in Columbus, including a wide range of Mexican restaurants to choose from.
If you’re looking for quick fast “Tex-Mex” style food, then Qdoba and Chipotle are great picks. If you’re looking for more traditional Mexican food, Riviera Maya, Camila’s or El Nopal are all good places to go.
In a recent poll from students here at East, Riviera Maya was voted the favorite Mexican restaurant to eat at during lunch. Riviera Maya has recently begun serving food quicker, making it easier for students to eat there in one mod. The food is reasonably priced and great tasting.
All three traditional Mexican restaurants have similar menus and prices, Camila’s being a little more expensive than Riviera Maya. El Nopal requires students to take more than one lunch mod because it is located across town. Menu prices are typically one or two dollars more expensive at El Nopal, however the food is worth the price. Overall, all three restaurants are reliable lunch options and offer good food.
If you are not able to enjoy a sit down meal in one lunch mod without feeling rushed, all local Mexican restaurants offer to-go orders. Simply call ahead and order, and the food will be ready when you get there. Some good places within the school to enjoy your lunch include the cafeteria and the commons.

I really like trying out new Mexican restaurants! I think that finding a great restaurant where a lot of students like to go for lunch like you said is probably a sign for a good one to try. My kids discovered one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for our family, so I’ll have to tell them to keep their ears open! Thanks for the suggestion! http://www.elmolinitos.com
