Artificial Intelligence to run in 2018 Russian Presidential Election

In May 2017, Russian tech giant Yandex released the beta version of a piece of software, dubbed “Alisa”, or “Alice”, to multiple platforms as a virtual assistant. After seven months, Alisa was nominated for the upcoming Russian presidential elections.

Yandex claims that Alisa could be a better president than any other candidate, boasting that she “relies on logic”, and that she “does not seek personal gain and does not give estimates.”

Beyond that, they claim that Alisa processes information seven times faster than the human brain, even capable of taking recommendations via email, remembering the person to submit the recommendation and using the expressed opinion to better serve the people.

Lastly, they state that Alisa is “always in touch,” not just on the first of the year, as Russian presidents traditionally are. To match this, Yandex states that not only is Alisa ageless, but she is constantly made smarter by experience.

However, the campaign team from Yandex was silent on some more controversial matters regarding the candidate, including statements that have plagued CleverBot artificial intelligence units across the United States. That being, Alisa has made some very controversial statements, ranging from a pro-prison camp point of view to support for the shooting of “Public Enemies”.

Even after such statements, Alisa has a quickly growing support base. After posting a petition for allowing Alisa into the candidacy as a non-standard candidate on Dec 7, the petition quickly grew to have nearly 70,000 signatures of the 300,000 required.
