Show Choir qualifies for their first ever Finals

This past Saturday, Columbus East’s Show Choir “Center Stage” competed in South Dearborn’s Opening Knight Showcase. The choir of 12 females and 9 males made history when they qualified for Finals.

Until Saturday, Columbus East Show Choir “Center Stage” had never made finals. Qualifying for finals means the choir has to perform twice because they are up for the Grand Champion title.

“It was a confidence booster and we broke the standard. It was historic and it’s changing the way people will view our program,” said Brianna Vance, a senior in Center Stage.
Overall, the choir placed second in their small mixed choir division just behind Shelbyville. Then against large school and small school choirs, East placed fourth.

Center Stage has had a historic season. It is their first year with their new director, Mr. Brockamp, and it is paying off. They already have many trophies under their belt, like best band and people’s choice. Their season ends this Saturday where they are competing at Shelbyville Sing Sensational.
