Dogs are a man’s best friend. They have a special place in our hearts and are there for us at our worst and best times. You can simply trust them with all your secrets, and you know for certain they will not tell anyone. Through your ups and downs, they will always be by your side.

Most families have pets: According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 44 percent of all households in the United States have a dog. This percentage is greater than the amount of cats in American households, with a total of about 90 million dogs in the United States.

There are many reasons why dogs are the dominant pet and need to be treasured. When you need a hug, they will always be your cuddle buddy. They will give you attention when no one else will and their loyalty to you is undeniable. Dogs are your personal entertainer, and will keep you company anytime of the day. Once you see their puppy dog eyes, you’ll fall in love with them at first sight.

Personally, I love my dog. I have a miniature schnauzer named Tucker who just turned six and is still considered my puppy. He always knows how to cheer me up and is a great listener. Tucker is not just my pet, he is a part of the family. He’s like a brother, a brother that has four legs, fur and a short tail.

On August 26th, every year, dog owners across the nation get to appreciate all the love dogs give. Even through the ruff times, your dog will always be by your side.
