Zodiac Horoscopes: Accurate or Stereotypes?

Lindsay Akers

Many people know of Zodiac signs. They are 12 constellations, separated by exactly 30 degrees in the sky, with a relative position to the sun and moon that are believed to dictate many things on Earth, such as personalities and success in life. The twelve signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.

If someone knows their sign, they most likely have read about what kind of personality has been assigned to their own sign. But is this personality that is “assigned” to a person accurate? Well, the answer is yes and no. Someone cannot really be assigned a personality; however, many people have seen small similarities between their personality and the Zodiac horoscope.

Most people said that horoscopes can be accurate, but that doesn’t apply to all.

“They are vague, so they can be for everyone,” sophomore Ema Westerfeld said.

Westerfeld said that she doesn’t think horoscopes can be accurate.

“It gives people hope,” senior Szczesny Lipinski said. “Like if it says they’ll have a good week, they’ll have hope,” Lipinski said.

Other students said that they didn’t think Horoscopes can be accurate, or if they are, it’s vague. Some people know others that are almost spot on with their Zodiac: however, that seems to be a pretty rare case. Zodiacs are accurate in the sense that they are vague, but when it comes to specifics they are hardly ever accurate.

Either way, Zodiac Horoscopes can still be interesting and even give people hope or a sense of purpose.
