Meet the Staff: Maggie O’Connor

Corbin Morris, Staff Reporter

While the smell of Chick-fil-A usually excites customer, it reminds junior Maggie O’Connor of a long working shift.

She was most eager for her first job because of the fact that she already knew people who worked at Chick-fil-A.

“I have a subscription to a program called SnagAJob,” O’Connor said. “They sent me a notification that Chick-fil-A was hiring.”

She filled out an online application and then went to Chick-fil-A for an interview.

When O’Connor received the job offer and started working, she began to become familiar with how the restaurant functions. She started to remember the certain smells and senses that are present.

“The workplace smells like chicken and fryers. I hear the communication between customers and the milkshake blenders. I taste an original chicken sandwich every time I work,” O’Connor said. “All I see at Chick-fil-A is the cash registers and customers.”

One of her favorite parts of working at Chick-fil-A is the interaction with customers. She usually gets to work the drive thru so she has the opportunity to meet new people during her shifts. With each new customer comes a new opportunity.

“I’m always touching the money and the cash registers. We always have to wash our hands before serving food,” O’Connor said.

“My favorite position is headset. This is because I love taking orders and interacting,” O’Connor said.

She has worked all of the six positions at Chick-fil-A, with headset and drive thru being her favorite.

O’Connor’s one year anniversary will be coming up soon. Although she loves working at Chick-fil-A, she will be leaving the restaurant in the next couple of months. Even with her soon departure, O’Connor is grateful for the time she has been able to work at Chick-fil-A.
