When asked about the upcoming postseason sectional tournament, coach Stacie Pagnard is hopeful for team success. However, Pagnard wants East to play its best game no matter what the outcome.

“We want to play our style; our best volleyball against everyone,” Pagnard said.

At the time, she was talking about sectionals, but this attitude has been reflective of the Olympians’ entire volleyball season so far. Coming into sectionals with a 22-7 record, Pagnard is confident and pleased with the team’s performance up to this point.

“We’ve been consistent until we’ve faced high level teams, then we wavered. Right now, we’re working on confidence and perfect effort,” Pagnard said.

The Olympians face Bloomington South on Thursday, whom they have beaten twice already this season. In order to succeed, they’re going to need to continue playing “Columbus East” volleyball.

“We want to start strong, and also finish strong. That will give us the best chance to win,” junior Seena Greiwe said.

Going into the game with a 6-0 conference record, a Hoosier Hills Conference Championship and four players committed to play volleyball in college, the Olympians should be able to breeze through the first round of sectionals.
