Earth Day is a national holiday that is celebrated on April 22. It goes back to the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.
Recycling is very important. It has many benefits that can be used for different purposes. Recycling can create a healthy planet for society now and future generations. It can also prevent pollution, conserve natural resources and energy, reduce waste sent to landfills and can even create jobs! To recycle, make sure you use the three Rs, reduce, reuse and recycle.
Instead of using gas to get around places, try walking or biking! Gas can create many problems in the environment, such as, gas pollution, climate change and it produces carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gas.
Water conservation is also very important. Instead of unnecessarily using water, put a large bottle of tap water in the fridge to save waiting for the tap to run cold! Waiting for the tap to get colder can waste so much water. Only 2% of the Earth’s water supply is actually freshwater! Don’t waste the healthiest drink for humans!
There are many ways to promote environmental awareness. Turn your light switch off as soon as you finish whatever you may be doing. Don’t waste a drop of water or paper. Make sure to reduce, reuse and recycle. Use safe and non-toxic building supplies. Reduce waste, too!
You can do such little things to help your environment and future generations! Have you ever realized that you may be leaving your faucet on the entire time you’re brushing your teeth? That is something you should fix right away. Earth Day is all about recycling and promoting environmental awareness.
