Olympian boys’ basketball to play at Bankers Life
January 9, 2016
Instead of playing in the usual Orange Pit, tonight the Columbus East boys’ basketball team will face off against the Shelbyville Golden Bears at Bankers Life Fieldhouse at 5:45 PM.
Each team will come into the game with a losing record with Columbus East holding a 3-5 record on the season and the Golden Bears sporting a 4-6 record.
This will be the team’s first trip to play at the venue since head coach coach Brent Chitty has been at Columbus East.
“[The game] is going to be really exciting for ours guys. It’s definitely something different compared to any regular other regular home or away game,” said Coach Brent Chitty “It’s where the state championship game is played and I’m excited to see how our guys play.”
The coach isn’t the only part of the team that is excited about the game. The players seem to be chomping at the bit to get out on the floor in front of the big audience.
Even the non-varsity players are excited to see their peers get to perform on the big stage.
“I’m excited to see how our team plays in Indy. I really think we’ll do well and I’m excited,” said Sophomore Luke Poindexter.
