Snapchat unveils new geofilter at East
March 30, 2016
On Wednesday, students all over East discovered a new CEHS-themed Snapchat geofilter. An orange house-shaped design with the words “East High School Olympians” can be placed in the corner of Snapchat photos taken at East.
A Snapchat geofilter is a small design that can overlay a photo taken on Snapchat. This special filter is based entirely off the user’s current location. A few months ago, geofilters for Columbus North and the town of Columbus were unveiled, yet Columbus East remained without a geofilter.
After speaking with student Snapchat users, the overall feedback was negative, with many suggesting a redesign of the filter. Sophomore Dawson Combest mentioned the current geofilter makes the school mascot appear to be the “fighting pyramids.”
Snapchat allows the community to submit new geofilter designs at snapchat.com/geofilters.
