The East football team competes against New Palestine this Friday.  East has met up with New Pal three years in a row during their postseason run.

In 2013 East met up with New Pal in the 4A Semi-State game and won 49-14. In 2014 East met up with their rival again in the the 4A Semi-State game and lost in a close battle. The final score was 30-28, with New Pal scoring a game winning field goal with time running out.

Last year the football team moved up to 5A, and New Pal was in the same Sectional as East. East played them in the Sectional Championship last year and lost 24-14.

Junior Ethan Summa, a two year starter for the Olympians, explained how he prepares for games.

“We’re preparing as normal. We know it’s a big game, but we can’t get distracted. We have to focus on what we need to get done,” Summa said.

This year East drew New Pal in the first game of Sectionals, and they are fired up about getting revenge and winning an important game on the road to State.
