On Friday, February 24 East hosted Sectional 5. East was able to place third in sectionals and advance to regionals on Friday.

Defending state champions Columbus North placed first with a score of 111.875. Bloomington South placed second with a score of 110.575 and East placed third with a score of 108.100. The top three teams in each sectional advance to regionals, which are being hosted at East.

Regionals will be held on Friday, March 3. The two feeder sectionals are Columbus East and Connersville. New Palestine won the Connersville Sectional, and the other two teams advancing are Richmond and Connersville. East looks to make it back to the state finals and hopefully improve after last year’s 6th place finish.

Sophomore Abby Lewis will be competing all-around in regionals and hopes to use her experience in the tournament to her advantage.

Q: How did your experience in last year’s state tournament help you this year?
A: “Being in last year’s state meet really prepared me for what scores I should expect to see this year and what I need to work on to progress and get better.”
