After Cayden Rooks was upset in the quarterfinals of semi-state his freshman year, he came back with a vengeance. As just a sophomore, Rooks dominated the 2017 wrestling sectional, regional and semi-state, securing his spot for state. His success didn’t stop there; Rooks proved his superiority when he came out of the tournament a state champion, winning the 120 lb. IHSAA State Title.

Rooks sat down with The Oracle staff and discussed how he got his roots in wrestling and how he became Columbus East’s first ever wrestling state champion. Check out the video below to hear his story:
