Is 2018 the year of Anime?

Soren Fox, Writer

If you are a current fan of anime or have never seen it before, 2018 is the perfect year for you. With more and more ongoing anime being released this year there is something for everyone.

With summer vacation coming up leaving many students and staff with nothing to do, it has never been a better time to binge watch anime. Season three of “Attack on Titan” releases in July, so you can get your fill of action and a little gore. Seasons 1 and 2 were a huge hit and with a total of 32 episodes you can get immersed in the intense storyline of fighting to save humanity against  gigantic humanoid creatures known as titans.

If blood and guts is not your style do not worry, if you are more into the supernatural you are in luck. “Mob Psycho 100” follows a young psychic named Shigeo, nicknamed Mob, who works under the teachings of Reigen Arataka, a self-proclaimed psychic, that runs a business exercising spirits for cheap. Season 1 had a total of 12 episodes that were filled with humor and great life lessons to help Shigeo grow as a person and a psychic. Season 2 does not have a release date, but in March of 2018 a Mob Psycho 100 mini was released with a synopsis of Season 1 narrated by Reigen.

Struggles are a part of life and everyone loves a good underdog story. “My Hero Academia” follows a young boy, Izuku Midoriya, who was born normal in a world where everyone has superpowers. Through perseverance and hard work, as well as mentorship from the former #1 Hero, All Might, who passes the torch to Izuku as he sees as him being his successor. My Hero Academia has 3 seasons with a total of 50 episodes. The current season has been airing since April 7th, 2018.

No matter who you are there is an anime for everyone, and with countless genres you are bound to find one that interests you.
