There are many people in the world who look up to their siblings as an inspiration for their futures or just as someone to rely on. East senior and Managing Editor Nathan Phan has two older brothers that he looks up to. One is currently getting his residency towards the goal of becoming a doctor while the other attends Northern Illinois University.
“My brothers are my biggest inspirations,” Phan said. “They both attended East when they were my age and were model students. They have done a countless number of things that show their hard work and dedication in life.”
Phan has taken some great steps to help further pursue his interest in the medical field. During his freshman year at East, Phan took Principles of Biomedical Sciences. During his sophomore year, he completed Nursing One as well as Human Body Systems. More recently, he completed Medical Innovations and Medical Terminology in his junior year.
“Currently I’m in Biomedical Innovations,” Phan said. “So far, the start of class has been fairly stressful but it has been a super fun class. The people in it make it super enjoyable and the teacher is one of the best teachers at East.”
Phan is looking forward to his upcoming senior year and his role as managing editor for the newspaper. He currently does not have any specific plans for college as he wants to go with the flow of senior year and see where his heart leads him.
