Many students at East are passionate about their classes, one being Natalie Vanest, a senior at East. Vanest is especially passionate about nursing and wants to continue within the trauma field.
“My mom is a nurse, she always taught me stuff when I was little, such as coloring in an anatomy book,” Vanest said.
Vanest plans to continue her nursing career at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis after high school to get her Bachelor of Science in Medicine. She would eventually like to become a registered nurse in an emergency room.
Among her many interests, Vanest decided to join the newspaper to try something new and is interested in being a staff reporter.
“I have always enjoyed writing and I think it would be fun to create stories about real-world situations,” Vanest said.
Being a senior comes with many stressful situations. Vanest worries about the deadlines that could possibly interfere with her future. Like most seniors, her senior project causes a lot of stress and anxiety as she works on getting approval and completing it on time.
As Vanest starts at the beginning of her senior year, she has experienced many different situations and setbacks.
“My advice would be to make sure you get all of your work done on time and don’t fail any of your classes,” Vanest said. “It helps to have good relationships with your teachers and stay close with your friends.”
