As a sophomore at East, Lilah Klei is involved with various activities, such as volleyball, helping to organize other clubs around the school, and beginning her first year as a staff reporter for The Oracle.
Klei has been playing volleyball for four years and does not see herself straying away anytime soon.
“I was not even interested in playing, but my friend wanted me to try out with her and she ended up getting cut and I didn’t,” Klei said. “I ended up finding a passion for it and now I’m on Varsity as a sophomore.”
With a new year and a new principal come new rules that students must become accustomed to. Klei feels as though some of these rules are unnecessary and overwhelming.
“I ate in the commons my freshman year but now food is not allowed there and it’s disappointing,” Klei said.
Klei Decided to join the Oracle to expand her interest in creativity and make new friends.
“I used to look at the Oracle and flip through the pages and see lots of color and pictures and thought it would be cool to be a part of that,” Klei said. “I don’t think I want a career in newspaper, but I am interested in teaching possibly.”
Klei has always loved working with people, especially with kids. She wants to pursue a career in helping others in any way she can.
“My dad works with kids who have had behavioral issues and it has inspired me to make a difference in kids’ lives like he does,” Klei said.
