East senior Natalie Torres decided to join Newspaper this school year because she wanted to become more social and involved with her friends. In addition, she wanted to be in an extracurricular activity in order to be social with her friends.
“I kinda just needed to replace one of my classes and so I just chose this class,” Torres said. “Plus I have some friends in this class and I just thought it would be fun to be a part of something because I don’t do any extracurricular classes or clubs.”
The beginning of the Newspaper has been stressful and maybe even uninteresting to some students. Although, as soon as the year goes on and the first-year students get trained, the class will become fun. It will also be good to meet new people and learn about other experiences in Newspaper.
Torres’ mom decided it would be better if she began attending East instead of North to make traveling from home and school easier for everyone. She transferred after the first semester of her freshman year. Transferring to East changed Torres’ perspective of school as she now had two environments to compare.
“I used to go to North for, like, the first semester of freshman year and I absolutely hated it, so I think East is a lot better,” Torres said.
Overall, coming to East taught Torres to be a better student. At East, she turned into a great person with a wide personality. The teachers here at East helped Torres achieve her goals through their strict policies and rules.
Torres is looking to become a veterinarian after college. She is still looking for a college to go to, but she knows she will for sure want to be a vet.
