A Look at the Met Gala
The Met Gala takes place on the first Monday in May. This event is formally known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit and is held to raise money for the Costume Institute. Guests range from television stars to pop icons. Entrances to the extravagant event begin at 5 p.m. and last until 8 p.m. or later.
Themes for the Gala in the past have all been rather interesting, the last year being “In America: Lexicon of Fashion”. This year the theme is “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” Hosted by co-chairs including Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Regina King, alongside couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Hosts of the live show include Vanessa Hudgens, LaLa Anthony, and Hamish Bowles.
Since fashion is obviously the most important part, I gathered students such as; Kamille Wilson, Ivy Davidson, and myself to collectively vote on the outfits. With categories such as Best Dressed, Worst Dressed, and Most Improved from Last Year.
