“Arisu” in Borderland
Alice in Borderland, a Japanese action and drama series on Netflix, released the second season to this adventure of wits on Dec. 22 2022, and fans of the series across the globe have been constantly rewatching the new season.
Alice In Borderland is based on a manga written and illustrated by Haro Aso in 2010. The manga garnered extreme popularity, leading to Netflix creating a live-action series of their own nearly ten years later on Dec. 10 2020.
The second season came out nearly two years after the first season and brought back many of the old cast that people loved: Kento Yamazaki as Ryohei Arisu, Nijirô Murakami as Shuntaro, Tao Tsuchiya as Yuzuha Usagi and Asahina Aya as Kuina.
Whereas the first season focused mainly on the general world Arisu and their friends had been teleported to, the second season went more in-depth with how the world works and what evils may be lurking in the shadows.
With the emergence of the face cards, jacks, queens and kings, the group must now face off in horribly brutal battles. These new face cards are not for the faint of heart, as many of them lead to the morbid deaths of important characters.
The “King of Spades” is one of their first enemies in the new round to this thrilling game of wits, yet this mercenary becomes so troublesome that they do not end up defeating them until much later on in the show.
With the reappearance of Nagisa, the militant member of The Beach, the new season was seasoned perfectly with learning experiences for Arisu, allowing him to overcome the final battle in this season.
The ending, however, is what shocked most fans and left them yearning for another season. How will this mystery end, and will Arisu have to overcome the most dangerous of foes: the Jokers?
