Alabama claims the College Football Playoff

As the college football season comes to an end, it seems fitting that this wild season would finish with a wild fight for the National Championship.

This season had just one team finish undefeated, University of Central Florida, and they did not get a chance to play for the National Championship, stirring up a lot of rumors and complaints towards the College Football Playoff Committee as well as the integrity of the teams that were chosen.

With that extra chip on their shoulders, both Alabama and Georgia headed into Monday night’s Championship bout looking to make a major statement, and that is exactly what they did.

Georgia held a 13-0 lead at the half after holding Alabama to just 97 total yards of offense in the first half. Alabama made a switch at the helm, taking out Jalen Hurts at quarterback and replacing him with Tua Tagovailoa, a true freshman. Tagovailoa threw for over 120 yards and two touchdowns to give Alabama its 17th National Championship trophy in school history. Georgia’s stellar running attack, which posted running totals over 200 yards in the Rose Bowl the week before, was held to a not so stellar total of 133 yards on the day.

Head coach of the Crimson Tide, Nick Saban, was able to capture his 6th title in his career, tying him with legendary Alabama head coach Paul “Bear” Bryant for most in college football history.
