Trump and Beto O’Rourke Face Off in El Paso

President Trump travelled to Texas this week to rally over the border as Congress met to pass funding in order to avoid a repeat of the shutdown earlier this year. However, he wasn’t alone- Not even outside of sight range, former El Paso House representative Beto O’Rourke headed a counter-rally nearby. The spectacle served to solidify the hopes of an O’Rourke 2020 presidential run as the 46-year-old ex-lawmaker drew a crowd rivaling or even surpassing Trump’s.

 

Representative Ilhan Omar Questions Why America Supports Israel

Freshman Representative Ilhan Omar drew sharp criticism and ignited debate when she questioned support of Israel by American politicians, recently citing Israel’s official status as a Jewish state and it’s refusal to recognize other religions within it’s borders as humorous when it is called a democracy. Though her colleagues have defended her as she has apologized, Republican political figures demanded her immediate resignation, causing sharp rebuke to both sides of the spectrum, accusing one another of hypocrisy on matters of internal judgement.

 

Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend Preps for 2020

In an interview with CBS’s Stephen Colbert of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana, made his case for the office of the Presidency. A 37-year-old Democratic veteran of the War in Afghanistan, Buttigieg believes that his age, governmental, and military experience make him fit to effectively combat the more central problems facing the next generation.
