Car Crash Takes Life of Former East Student

On Thursday, March 24, a vehicle containing East students was struck at the intersection of Marr Road and County Road 550 North, and took the life of former East student Keegan Phillips.

According to the Indiana State Police, Phillips was traveling east on Marr Road. He stopped at a stop sign, then pulled into the path of an SUV traveling on South on CR 550 North. The SUV had the right-of-way.

After his vehicle traveled over 100 feet into a field, Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene. His three passengers were taken to IU Methodist Hospital, where two are listed in good condition and one is listed in serious condition.

Saturday evening, friends and family of Phillips gathered to remember Phillips, releasing dozens of balloons and placing a white cross at the site of the accident.
