East’s volleyball team crushed Bloomington South Tuesday, September 27. East swept the Panthers in three short sets with scores of 25-9, 25-7 and 25-14. Tuesday night was filled with success and mixed emotions, especially for the Olympian seniors, since it was Senior Night.

Senior Brooke Banister said, “I’m sad this is my last year playing high school volleyball because I have been playing with the other six seniors since middle school, but I am excited to see what the future holds for me”.

Banister and the rest of her team remain content with the win against the Panthers, since it is an important stepping stone for the team’s overall goal.

“Bloomington South is our biggest competition in sectionals so we are hoping to play like we did tonight and end up on top,” Banister said. “State is our ultimate goal, as it is for every team, but to get there we all have to want it.”

The volleyball team has had loads of success so far this season. With a current record of 14-7 the Olympians hope to advance out of sectionals and win conference. The volleyball team will play in sectionals the week of October 17.
