Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If you scroll past your feed on Instagram, there is a high chance you saw someone post about their “Animal Crossing” island. “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” brings the beloved game to a deserted island. This game is similar to “The Sims” because you can make your own town and decorate houses, but it is MUCH cuter. Your character that you play through is the only human and your neighbors are animals with their own personalities. For example, I have a little fox on my island right now that wears sunglasses and is french.

The game is a new hot topic because it was just released March 20, 2020. Because of how new and popular this game is, the price range is around 60 to 80 dollars. There is even a newly designed “Animal Crossing” theme Nintendo Switch console that runs up to 500 dollars. Keep in mind that an average Nintendo Switch runs up to 300 dollars. There is no denying that the game is a hit considering all its players have been loving it, but what is the whole point of the game?

The whole point in my opinion is to relax. You can do fun activities like pick fruit from trees, plant flowers, decorate your house, fish in the ocean, help neighbors and make DIYs. By doing these things you get “nook miles” and “bells” which are basically the currencies in the game. You can buy things or upgrade your house when you earn enough of either one.

The greatest part of the game is the fact that it literally has countless hours on it. You can constantly make your island grow with new people and stores. If you get bored of your island, you can always visit your friend’s island through the game’s “Dodo Airlines.” In my opinion this is a really cute concept because dodos can’t fly yet they are pilots in the game.

“Animal Crossing” was released at a great time considering most of us are stuck at home now. Video games in general are a great way to escape whatever stress is happening in the world around us. This game brings you to a deserted island where the only worry you have is making sure your tulips are growing nicely. If you want to hop on this awesome bandwagon and make your own island, I highly recommend “Animal Crossing” to any switch user.
