Episode four of WandaVison shook up the status quo of the show in ways unseen in the first three episodes. Instead of a sitcom-type plot with the sense that something was wrong, we got a full episode that answered a lot of the questions the fans have been asking since the show’s debut. 

The episode starts with Monica Rambeau who we see reappear after being snapped away by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. The viewer gets an up-close and chaotic look at the aftermath of the Avengers bringing half the universe’s life back. In this scene, we find out that Monica Rambeau’s mother, Maria, died from cancer between the events of Infinity War and Endgame. 

After the opening, we see Monica, along with Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and the Wasp, investigating a missing person in Westview, the town that Wanda is controlling. Then as Rambeau investigates, she is sucked into the town and lost. The agency that Monica works with, S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient Weapons Observation and Response Division), then stations a perimeter around Westview, and tries to find answers on what is happening. Darcy Lewis from the first two Thor movies returns to help S.W.O.R.D uncover the mystery in Westview. She discovers that Rambeau is trapped in a sit-com and they go through several failed plans to get her and Wanda out. We actually saw these plans in previous episodes, with the reveal that Jimmy Woo was the one contacting Wanda through the radio and it was a S.W.O.R.D. agent coming through the sewer drain in episode two. The episode then shows us the full conversation between Wanda and Monica before she is ejected from Westview. We see Wanda question who Monica is and why she is there. Then we see Wanda use her powers to throw Monica out. The episode ends with the reveal that Wanda is controlling all of Westview.

This was by far my favorite episode. We see the agents of S.W.O.R.D. asking the same questions the fan base had been asking since the beginning. It will be interesting to see how the next sit-com episodes will function now that we know what is really going on.
