The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT), also known as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, is a standardized test offered to sophomores and juniors in high school to test their abilities. In some schools, freshmen are also allowed to take the test. At East, only sophomores and juniors are suggested to take the PSAT.
The PSAT consists of Reading and Writing sections and Math sections.
At the beginning of the school year, students at East signed up to take the PSAT if they wished to. The PSAT was offered to be taken in October, the end of October for East specifically.
Students were informed at the beginning of October when their testing date would be and when they would complete a digital readiness check.
Sophomores did a digital readiness check on October 17 to ensure their information was correct and that they would be prepared to take the PSAT soon after. Juniors did the same on the following day.
On October 24, sophomores finally took the PSAT, while juniors took it the next day.
After the anticipation of just taking the PSAT, students at East will now have to wait until November 16 to receive their test scores, while other students who took their test in the first half of October will receive their test scores on November 6.
When scores are released, students will be able to see their total score, reading and writing score, math score, how their score compares to other students, and their National Merit Scholarship Corporation Selection Index Score.
