Marvel Movies For Dummies

What is Going on in the World of Marvel Movies?

Avengers Infinity Wars comes out on Friday, April 27th. For fans of the Marvel films, this has been a day long anticipated, and will for sure be one of the greatest cinematic spectacles of the whole year.

Now, for those of you that don’t already know, I am a Marvel super-nerd. Not necessarily in the way of comics, (although I do have some knowledge of the comics) my true nerd spirit resides with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). There is a lot of content and characters throughout the MCU, and coming from somebody who has seen each Marvel film since 2008 multiple times, I can try to make sense of things for all you normal and much cooler people.

For a film franchise that has been running for ten years, there has clearly been a lot of content thrown at us. Through all the twists and turns, it’s hard to imagine that all of this started in 2008 with Iron Man, and has continued to impress ever since.

Since the debut of Iron Man, there have been 18 movies released in the MCU, with the latest being Black Panther, released on February 16th.

I will save everyone some time and go ahead and explain, The Avengers are no longer the original Avengers from the first movie. The movies have expanded and grown so much, and included so many more people, that it’s now too much for one organization to have. So they all split up, and all the characters are now in different places.

However, even with characters split all over the place, this movie will bring them all back together. Another amazing thing in this movie is that we will get to see groups collide for the first time, like the Guardians of the Galaxy meeting the Avengers and Spider-Man meeting Doctor Strange and Black Panther. All these different heroes will all be wrapped up together in this movie, and it will be crazy and amazing.

The bad guy in this movie is Thanos. He is a very very bad guy. If you saw the trailer, he’s the big purple dude with a golden glove on his hand. His main goal is to collect these little things called Infinity Stones, hence the name of the film “Infinity War,” and kill half of the Universe with them to be the only person left to rule everyone. If he gets all six of the Infinity Stones, he will be unstoppable. Each Infinity Stone gives whoever holds it a very strong power. But you have to be already really powerful to hold certain ones.

These Infinity Stones are spread all around the galaxy for the most part, but we know now that one is in the head of a man called Vision, another is in the Eye of Agamotto around Doctor Strange’s neck, another is with a man called The Collector, another is with Loki, and the last known one is on a planet called Xandar. There is one more stone floating around somewhere, and I have a feeling that we might see it pop up during the movie, or at the very least hear something about it.

As a person who has been watching these movies and excited about them since the very beginning, this movie is an event that can’t be missed. Most people who have seen any number of these movies feels the same. And even if the Marvel franchise isn’t something you’ve been into before, I recommend going to see this movie. Not only do the movies have good stories, but the action in them is phenomenal, and for anybody who just goes to movies to see the cute actors and actresses; Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Zoe Saldana, Tom Hiddelston and MANY more are all starring in this movie. Feel free to google any of those names, and I hope to see you at the movie.
